Tips for a Successful Newborn Session

  • If desired to be part of the photos, parent/sibling/family portraits are done at the start of session. Due to the duration of the session, siblings are to be present for their portion of the session only (25-45 min).
  • Please notify me if you plan to circumcise baby- session will be booked with healing time in mind.
  • Sessions generally last 1-3 hours.
  • If breastfeeding, avoid caffeinated and carbonated drinks as well as gassy and spicy foods 24 hours prior to session.
  • Keep baby awake minimum 1 hour prior to session (a bath works well).
  • Give baby large feed before the session is set to begin.
  • Be prepared to feed baby throughout the session- prepared bottles are great for posing and feeding simultaneously but not at all necessary. The session will be a judge-free and breastfeeding friendly zone!
  • Bring baby to session in a button/zipper-down sleeper. They will not be photographed in the clothes you bring them in.
  • A pacifier is highly encouraged. Usage will be minimal and therefore nipple confusion will not occur.
  • Room will and should be very warm, dress in layers for your own comfort.
  • It is suggested to clear you schedule for the day to avoid over-stimulation prior to session; also, sessions may run longer than anticipated.
